Metal animal sculptures
A website for an artist who makes handmade metal animal sculptures for the modern garden. A gallery as a shop window, custom requests and an admin area of their own.
Technology
How it’s put together
- Django 5 (Python): apps for the catalogue, "in the making" and pages. One codebase for site and admin.
- Own admin area: manage artworks, photos, categories and requests without code.
- Bilingual (NL/EN) with django-modeltranslation: a Dutch and an English version for each field.
- Tailwind CSS built with the standalone CLI, without Node or a CDN.
- SEO: sitemap, robots.txt and JSON-LD. Coming-soon mode with a preview link.
- Database: SQL Server (mssql-django), with SQLite as a local fallback.
- Hosting: Docker (Gunicorn + WhiteNoise) behind a Cloudflare tunnel, on our own server.
