Classes

Four ways to grow quiet

From calm and explained to warm and strong. All classes last 45 to 75 minutes and suit every level, unless stated otherwise.

Which class suits you?

01 / 04

Hatha yoga

Poses you hold for a while, to the rhythm of your breath.

Pace: calm

Small group of eight people in a calm standing pose during morning hatha, soft daylight over the wooden floor

In hatha you take your time. You move into a pose, stay for five breaths and slowly come out again. The teacher shows variations, so stiff hamstrings are no problem. If you’re new, start here.

  • Calm pace, lots of explanation
  • Good if you’re just starting
  • Also for stiff backs and hips

Taught by Heleen

Vinyasa flow

Moving with your breath, from one pose into the next.

Pace: brisk

Empty yoga studio in the early morning: oak floor, rolled-up mats and bolsters along the wall, low sunlight falling diagonally across the floor from the east

Vinyasa is yoga in motion. You follow your breath from pose to pose and warm up as you go. You build strength in your arms, legs and core, and still leave feeling calm.

  • You get warm and strong
  • A different flow every week
  • Easy to follow after a few hatha classes

Taught by Heleen and Onno

03 / 04

Yin yoga

Lying still for a long time, until your muscles let go by themselves.

Pace: very still

Candlelit yin class in the evening: people lying on bolsters under woollen blankets, tea lights along the skirting board

In yin you hold a pose for three to five minutes, supported by bolsters and blocks. Little happens on the outside, all the more on the inside. The evening classes are by candlelight.

  • Low, lying poses
  • Good for stress and poor sleep
  • Evening classes by candlelight
