Welcome to the studio

Twenty-six degrees, for someone fifty centimetres tall.

At a newborn shoot your baby sets the clock. If she wants to feed, she feeds. If she wants a cuddle, we wait.

The studio is kept at 26 degrees, so your baby sleeps soundly without a blanket. A white noise machine is on that sounds like the womb. The light comes in through a wide north window: soft, without harsh shadows. And you sit on the sofa, with coffee and something nice.

Jorien was a maternity nurse for eleven years before she became a photographer. She knows how to hold, soothe and tuck in a week-old baby. That’s why parents hand over their little one to her so easily.

From your bump in week 32 to the first cake. Each shoot has its own moment, and its own approach.

Day 5 to 14

Newborn shoot

Your baby in the first two weeks, sleepy and curled up.

Between day 5 and day 14 babies still sleep deeply and like to lie curled up, as in the womb. The whole morning is yours. There’s time to feed, change and cuddle. You sit on the sofa with coffee; Jorien takes care of the wraps and the light. Safety comes first: every pose with a hand nearby.

Maternity shoot

Your bump at its best, around week 30 to 34.

A relaxed hour in the studio, on your own or with your partner and big brother or sister. You pick a dress from the studio wardrobe, we take care of the light. No complicated poses: we look for positions that feel comfortable with an eight-month bump.

Around the 1st birthday

Cake smash

One year, one cake and lots of cream.

First we take a few lovely, clean portraits. Then comes the cake. Your little one can do anything: taste, squeeze, smear. We finish with a bubble bath, so your little one goes home clean. The cake is nut-free and low in sugar.

Everyone in the picture, without the fuss.

A relaxed hour in the studio, on the big linen bed or on the floor. Mostly we let you be busy with each other: tickling, reading aloud, climbing onto laps. That way you get photos that look like you.

When will you come by?

Enter your due date. Then you’ll see how short it is.

You can plan a maternity shoot a few weeks ahead, a cake smash a few months ahead. For a newborn shoot you only have ten days. That’s why we put you in the diary during your pregnancy.
