Know how healthy your battery is, cell by cell.

We read the battery management system, measure the voltage of every cell and the insulation between high voltage and bodywork. The report shows the State of Health as a percentage, the usable kWh and what that means for your range. Handy when selling, when buying a used car, or just because you’re curious.

Isolated in five rules

Following NEN 9140

Before anyone here touches an orange cable, we go through these five rules. Always in this order, even on a busy Friday.

  1. 1DisconnectThe service plug comes out. That electrically separates the battery pack from the car.
  2. 2SecureThe plug goes in a locked box and a label goes on the steering wheel: do not switch on.
  3. 3Test for zero voltsWith a two-pole tester, which we first check ourselves on a known voltage.
  4. 4EarthNot needed on most EVs. The make’s work instructions say so, and we follow them.
  5. 5ShieldAnything that stays live, we cover with insulating material. Only then does the work start.
