Het Zonnetje About us

A family business with a big terrace

Het Zonnetje belongs to Vivian, her daughter Lenneke and Lenneke’s husband Gijsbert. They are there themselves, every day. That is why the cake is fresh and the coffee is good.

From flower shop to lunchroom

Vivian started Het Zonnetje in 2009 in the old flower shop on Voorbeeldstraat. Her daughter Lenneke has baked all the cakes and scones since 2016, and Lenneke’s husband Gijsbert runs the coffee machine and the terrace.

The glass front of the old flower shop is still there. Behind it is now the play corner, so parents on the terrace can simply watch their children play. That was the first thing Vivian knew: families must feel at home here.

The terrace came in 2012, when the council made the street car-free. First with four tables, now with eighty seats and six yellow parasols.

How high tea works here

  1. 1

    Book a day ahead

Online or give us a call. Then we bake the scones for you too.

  2. 2

    We set your table

On the terrace when it is sunny, inside by the window when it is windy.

  3. 3

    Choose your tea

Pick from twelve kinds. Then the cake stand arrives.

  4. 4

Two and a half hours of tea

As much as you like. And whatever is left goes home with you in a box.

Where would you like to sit?

Sun or shade, close to the play corner or out on the edge by the hedge. Mention the table number when you book.
