03Frequently asked questions
What people often ask
Anything else you want to know about paint or wood? Message me, I'll reply after work.
Is a price from a photo reliable?
For interior work and wallpaper it usually is, with a few measurements. For exterior work I always come and look before the price is fixed, because wood rot only shows when you press on it. That visit is free.
And if the wood is worse than expected?
Then I stop, take a photo and send you the price per spot from the price list. I only carry on after your yes. So you'll never get a bill with unknown items.
What VAT is in your prices?
If your house is two years old or more, 9% applies to my hours and 21% to the paint. I've already worked those rates into the price list. For new builds I charge 21% on everything.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
No. You pay after handover, once we've checked everything together. For jobs over €5,000 I ask for part of it halfway.
Which paint do you use?
Water-based wall paint and lacquer from trade brands at the painters' wholesaler. Outside I use a lacquer that moves with the wood. If you want a particular brand, that's fine.
Can I choose the colour myself?
Yes. You can give me a RAL number or a colour code from the paint shop. If you're unsure, I'll bring a colour fan and paint a small test patch on the wall.
Do you paint uPVC frames or do plastering?
No. I leave uPVC frames to a spray painter and plastering to a plasterer. I can recommend someone, though.
