Bureau Mensenwerk About us

I am Brigitte

I am Brigitte Sterrenburg. I have worked in HR for over twenty years, always in small businesses: a construction firm, an installation company, home care. Since 2014 I have worked for myself, as the regular HR adviser for companies without their own HR department. Practical, warm and with the law within reach.

I work without colleagues. On purpose: you always talk to me.Brigitte

My story

My first HR job was at a construction firm with sixty staff. There was no HR department, there was a desk next to the canteen and the phone never stopped ringing. There I learned the most important thing about the job: people don't call with an HR question, they call with a problem. A carpenter who can no longer lift. A site manager at odds with his crew.

After that I worked at an installation company and in home care. Bigger organisations, the same questions. In 2014 I started on my own, because I saw that small businesses in particular have nobody to ask those questions. Or they pay a call centre where someone different picks up every time.

With me you always talk to me. I know your people, your cao and your history. I am a certified absence case manager, a member of the NVP and I follow the changes in employment law every year. But the most important thing I bring is twenty years at the table with business owners who want to do things right.

People don't call with an HR question. They call with a problem.

How we work together

From the introductory coffee to your regular adviser. The first month usually looks like this.

  1. 1

    Meeting at the table

An hour at your company. You talk, I listen and ask questions.

  2. 2

    The HR check

I look at your contracts, files and agreements and put on one A4 page what is already right and what is missing.

  3. 3

    Agreements on paper

You get a proposal: a monthly fee, or one price per job. No small print.

  4. 4

    Your regular adviser

After that you call me. Every quarter we sit down together to look ahead.

On my own, but not alone

For anything outside my field, I have worked with the same people for years. You keep one point of contact.

  • Employment lawyerFor proceedings and difficult dismissal cases. I bring her in, you stay in control.
  • Company doctorThrough your occupational health service. I prepare the appointments and make sure the advice is followed up.
  • Payroll administratorFor payslips and tax returns. I make sure what we agree is also right in the payroll.
  • Career coachWhen someone gets stuck in their work and needs a fresh perspective.

I work alone, so I take on a limited number of regular clients. From 2 November I have room again for two new companies. Shall we meet?
