Installing and anchoring
We set the sculpture down, and it stays put. You don’t just stand a sixty-kilo sculpture in the grass.

Heron on a concrete footing, hidden in the ornamental grass
You don’t just stand a sixty-kilo sculpture in the grass. We pour a concrete footing or screw in a ground anchor, level the sculpture and keep it fixed through the next storm and beyond.
Why a foundation
A two-metre heron weighs little, but catches a lot of wind. Without a foundation it sinks crooked or blows over. A concrete footing of 40 × 40 × 60 cm keeps it upright, year after year.
The sightline
We don’t just set the sculpture straight, we set it right. From the kitchen, the terrace or the drive: we turn it until its best profile faces you.
Add some light
A ground spotlight shining up along the steel turns the sculpture into a silhouette at night. We lay the cable at the same time and angle the spot correctly.
What’s under the grass
- Up to 15 kg: a ground spike or anchor is enough.
- 15 – 60 kg: ground anchor or small footing.
- Over 60 kg or over 1.5 m: always a concrete footing.
What customers often ask about this
Can a sculpture survive a storm?
Yes, provided it is properly anchored. A two-metre heron catches a lot of wind. That is why it stands on a concrete footing of 40 × 40 × 60 cm.
Will it stain my terrace?
In the first year, rainwater can carry off a little rust. Stand the sculpture on gravel, grass or a steel base plate, or let us pre-rust it outdoors for a few months first.
Does it need maintenance?
No. Don’t paint it and don’t oil it. Trim the grass around it now and then so the sculpture stays visible.
Which animal is looking for a home in your garden?
Send a few photos of the spot and tell us which animal you have in mind. Two weeks later there is a sketch to scale, with the price on it.
