Bonsoir.Come in, there's always a spot at the bar.
Le Petit Coin is a Lyonnais bistro, not a smart restaurant. You eat at small tables with a paper cloth, the plates come quickly and full, and the house wine arrives in a pot on the table.
In Lyon a place like this is called a bouchon: an eating house where silk weavers once had their midday meal. Hearty, honest and no fuss. Léon grew up above his uncle's bouchon and brought that cooking to Voorbeeldstad.
Every morning he stops by the market. What is good goes on the mirror that evening. The rest of the menu moves with what the farmers harvest, but the classics stay: steak frites, coq au vin, the quenelle and the pink praline tart.
Imke runs the floor and picks the bottles. She knows the winemakers of the Beaujolais and the Rhône and loves to pour something you have never had before. Not sure? Ask for a taste.
A bistro is not a restaurant. It's your second living room, with better wine.

Blanquette on Tuesday, fish on Friday, a whole chicken to share on Sunday. The plat du jour is also the main course of the menu du jour. When it's gone, it's gone, so come early.

Au zincA glass, a pot or the whole bottle.
The bar at Le Petit Coin comes from a bistro in the Croix-Rousse. Sixty years of zinc, and every dent has a story. No need to book: pull up a stool and order a board of rosette with it.
In Lyon you drink the house wine from a pot lyonnais: a bottle with a thick base that holds 46 centilitres. Enough for two or three glasses. Cheaper than by the glass, and more sociable.

Un Lyonnais et une HollandaiseA chef from Lyon and a host from Voorbeeldstad.
They met in a bouchon on the Rue Mercière. He was in the kitchen, she was on holiday and ordered the praline tart twice.
Ten years later they opened their own little corner on the square. He cooks, she pours. Both know their guests by name.

Une table pour ce soir ?Book here, or give us a call.
During the week there is often room. For Friday and Saturday evenings it's best to call ahead. At the zinc you never book: it's first come, first served.
We answer the phone from 15:00. More than eight of you? Have a look at the upstairs room.
