Started in a shed
Eikenhout is a workshop with three furniture makers. We design everything ourselves, cut it ourselves and assemble it ourselves. There's no salesperson between you and the hands that make your cupboard.
Geert started Eikenhout in 2009 with a second-hand panel saw in the shed behind his parents' house. The first order was a bookcase for the neighbours. It's still standing. In 2014 Sietske joined and we moved to the workshop on Voorbeeldstraat, and Durk followed in 2018.
We don't want to grow. With three of us, you handle every piece yourself, from the first line on paper to the last screw at your home.

Founder · furniture maker · In the trade since 2002
Started Eikenhout in 2009 in a shed behind his parents' house. Draws nearly every design and does the design meeting. Knows where every board comes from.
Sietske
Furniture maker · 3D drawings · At Eikenhout since 2014
Makes the 3D drawings and the working drawings for the workshop. Specialist in kitchens and anything with drawers. The one who measures three times.
Durk
Furniture maker · fitting · At Eikenhout since 2018
Builds at the workbench and assembles everything on site. Scribes skirting and side panels to uneven walls, so no sealant line is needed.
In the workshop
Timber store
Boards dry with us for a few more weeks, so they won't move once they're in your home.
Sawing and planing
A panel saw, a planer-thicknesser and a band saw. No production line, but precision.
Joints
Mortise and tenon, dovetail and biscuit. Without screws where possible, with them where needed.
Finish
Sanding to 240 grit and oiling or lacquering in our own dust-free spray booth.
How we work
- Week 0
Design meeting
At your own kitchen table or at our workbench. Geert looks at the space, takes rough measurements and talks to you about wood and use. Free.
- Week 1–2
Drawing and price
You get a 3D drawing and a price that won't change, with fitting and VAT included. You can make changes as often as needed.
- Week 2
Precise measuring
Once you agree, we measure everything to the millimetre. Uneven walls and floors go on the working drawing.
- Week 3–8
In the workshop
We saw, plane and glue, and make the joints. You're welcome to come and look in between.
- Week 9
Fitting
We assemble everything ourselves, clear up and take the packaging away. After six weeks we drop by once more.
Made to last
We buy our wood from two timber merchants in the region, all FSC or PEFC certified. Offcuts become chopping boards and stools; you get one from us as a gift at handover. Sawdust goes to a farmer down the road.
Because we know how we make it, we dare to stand behind the construction for 25 years. On fittings and finish it's 2 years.
