What it was about

A family with three children and a hallway full of shoes, bags and coats. Under the stairs there was only a junk cupboard with a small door.

What we made

Eight drawers, one per step, plus a tall cupboard for the vacuum cleaner. Every drawer extends fully and carries 40 kilos.

The detail

The drawers have no handles: you push them and they spring open. The grain runs on from step to step.

Lead time

What it was about

A house from 1931 with leaded glass and an old herringbone floor. The new kitchen had to suit it and not look new.

What we made

Frame doors in solid oak, an island with an overhang to sit at and a Belgian bluestone worktop.

The detail

The skirting follows the old floor, which isn't straight anywhere. We scribed it on site and trimmed it in the workshop.

§ 229

Walnut dining table

Voorbeeldstad-Noord · Three metres long, sawn from a single trunk.

Lead time

What it was about

A table for twelve people, for a house where the whole family comes to eat every Sunday.

What we made

A top from a single trunk, sawn into three parts and glued back together, on a base with two trestles and a separate stretcher.

The detail

We didn't hide a crack in the wood but secured it with three oak butterfly keys.

Your idea as the next job sheet?

Feel the difference between oak and walnut, see how a dovetail fits together and look at work that's on the bench right now. The coffee's on. Prefer us to come to you? That's fine too.
