Who rings the bell

Jacco and his crew

Two carpenters by a dark green van with open rear doors full of tools and timber, early morning in a residential street
Jacco and Cees, 07:15, into the van for a dormer in Noord.

You don't call a call centre, and there isn't a different crew every week. Jacco measures up, writes the quote and is up on the scaffolding himself.

Houtvast is a small carpentry firm with its own workshop on the edge of Voorbeeldstad. We do the work a carpenter does: window frames and doors, dormers and extensions, floors and stairs, and custom work that fits exactly.

I know every house we work on. I want to keep it that way.Jacco

From phone call to handover

Six steps, and at every step you know who's coming.

  1. Call or use the formMyrthe replies the same working day. She asks what kind of house it is and sets a date to come and measure up.
  2. Measuring at your homeJacco measures everything and thinks along about what's smart. It takes about three quarters of an hour, and you pay nothing for it.
  3. Quote with a fixed priceTwo working days later the quote is in your inbox: described item by item, with a schedule and a price that stands.
  4. PreparationOnce you agree, the order goes out and we apply for permission if needed. We pre-build dormers and cupboards in the workshop.
  5. The workWe're there at half past seven. We cover the floors and tidy everything up every afternoon. Jacco is your only point of contact.
  6. Handover and guaranteeOn the last day we walk through every room together. A gap or a sticking door gets fixed before the invoice arrives.

Every afternoon you hear from me how it went.Jacco

How we work in six steps

Roughly what it costs

Every job is different, but you want to know roughly what to expect.

Three questions at every survey

Can the price still go up?

No. After measuring up, Jacco lists each item separately in the quote, with a price that stands. Extra work is only added if you approve it first.

Do you arrange planning permission?

For an extension or dormer we make the drawing and structural calculation and submit the application. The quote includes a fixed price for that.

Can we live in the house during the work?

Almost always. We work room by room and close up the work every evening. With an extension, the back wall only opens once the extension itself is closed.
