Wooden wall shelf in a small studio shop with vases, jugs and mugs in different glazes

Home Services

From shop shelf to restaurant table

Tableware and vases for home, classes at the wheel, workshops for groups and bespoke tableware for restaurants.

Tableware and vases

Plates, bowls, mugs and vases from our own studio.

Everything in the shop is thrown, glazed and fired here. The tableware is stoneware: fired hard at 1240 °C, so it can go in the dishwasher, the microwave and the oven. No two pieces are exactly alike.

“You should be able to hold a mug with cold hands.”
  • Six regular glazes
  • Single pieces or sets
  • Vases and jugs too

Throwing classes

Learn to throw on the wheel, in six evenings.

In six classes you learn centring, opening, pulling up and trimming. You make bowls, mugs and cups. We fire your work twice and you choose the glaze. Clay, glaze and firing are included.

“After three evenings your first bowl is standing. After six you know why it’s crooked.”
  • Six per group at most
  • Clay and firing included
  • Beginners and improvers

Workshops for groups

An afternoon with clay, with your team or friends.

A two-and-a-half-hour workshop at the wheel or at the table hand-building. For a team outing, a birthday or a hen party. We fire your work and you collect it after three weeks.

“The best groups are the ones where nobody has ever done it before.”
  • From six people
  • Throwing or hand-building
  • Coffee, tea and cake included

Tableware for restaurants

Your own plates and bowls for your kitchen.

Together with the chef we design shape, size and glaze to suit your dishes. You get a trial series first, then we throw the full run. Stoneware is strong enough for a busy kitchen and dishwasher safe.

“A plate is only right when it makes the food better.”
  • Trial series first
  • From 40 pieces
  • Reorders always possible

From lump to bowl

Into the kiln twice

Every piece goes through the same five steps. That’s why it takes about three weeks.

Throwing. The clay gets its shape on the wheel.

Trimming. After a day of drying we trim the foot.

Bisque. The first firing, at 950 °C.

Glazing. Dipping in one of our six glazes.

Glaze firing. The second firing, at 1240 °C.
