Elektra Vonk/About us

Cct 4About us

About me, really. Elektra Vonk is a one-woman business: whoever calls gets me, and whoever opens the door sees me.

JANNEKE VONKIN THE TRADE SINCE 2006

“A fuse box tells you how a house was built. And how people have tinkered with it since.”

I'm Janneke Vonk, an electrician since 2006 and self-employed since 2014. First I spent eight years in commercial building: offices, schools, a hospital wing. Now I work in homes in Voorbeeldstad, and I like that better. You see who's standing at your fuse box, and I see who'll be living with it.

Working alone is a deliberate choice. That way I know for sure that every box is finished the same way: wires tight in the trunking, colours in order, every label straight. You don't see that once the door is shut. But the next electrician does, and you'll notice at the first fault.

How I got here

  1. 2006Vocational diploma in Electrical Engineering, level 4

The only girl in the class, and the first to finish the practical exam.

  2. 2006–2014Electrician in commercial building

Offices, schools and a hospital wing. Big boards, tight schedules.

  3. 2014Own business: Elektra Vonk

One van, one phone number. Since then I've only worked in people's homes.

  4. 2019EV chargers and solar power

More and more boxes had to keep up with the car and the roof. So I specialised in that.

  5. NowOver 900 fuse boxes later

And still happy with every box that closes neatly.

How I work

Four steps, always the same. You know in advance what you'll pay, when I'm coming and how many hours the power will be off.

  1. 1TodayPhoto of your box

Of your open fuse box, plus a sentence about what you want. By WhatsApp, email or the form.

  2. 2By tomorrowA price that stands

Within 24 hours on working days, with VAT and materials included. If I can't see something clearly, I come and look first for free.

  3. 3Usually this weekI come myself

Often the same week. We agree in advance how long the power will be off, so nobody gets a surprise.

  4. 4When I'm doneA tidy box back

Every circuit labelled, the circuit chart in the door, the test report in your inbox.

Five fixed habits

The electrician's hands stripping a cable with wire strippers, copper cores brown, blue and green-yellow, tool bag in the background
  1. 1Covers over my shoes

and a vacuum cleaner in the van. Your home stays clean.

  2. 2Power off after we've talked

I say in advance how long, so your freezer and your working-from-home day don't get a surprise.

  3. 3Every circuit labelled

No pencil scribbles, but label tape and a list in the door.

  4. 4Explanations without jargon

Afterwards you know what's there and why.

  5. 5I take everything with me

The old box, the cable offcuts and the packaging.

  2. 2The whole box in the picture from the meter down to the bottom circuit.
