Questions

Frequently asked questions

Sorted by when you ask them: before you decide, on fitting day, after handover and when salderen ends.

01

Before you decide

Is my roof suitable?

A roof facing south, east or west with little shade is almost always suitable. A flat roof works too. During the roof scan we also look at the state of your tiles and the roof structure.

Are solar panels still worth it now salderen is ending?

Yes, although earning it back takes longer: in our worked example about eight years. The more power you use yourself during the day, the faster it goes. That's why we calculate with your usage, not an average.

What does a roof scan cost?

Nothing. We visit, measure everything and email a layout with a calculation within five working days. Whether you go ahead after that is up to you.

02

On fitting day

How long does fitting take?

For an ordinary house one day, with two or three fitters. By evening the inverter is running.

Will there be scaffolding against my house?

Usually not. A roof ladder, anchor points and fall protection are enough. For a high or steep roof we put up a mobile tower, and that's already in the quote.

Do I need to stay home that day?

Briefly in the morning, for the fuse box, and around four, when we explain the app. In between you're free to go out.

03

After handover

What if the yield is disappointing?

After a year we compare your yield with the calculation. If you're more than ten per cent below, we find out why. Free of charge.

What warranties do I get?

25-year product and performance warranty on the panels, 10 to 12 years on the inverter, 10 years on a home battery and 10 years on our own fitting work.

Do panels need cleaning?

With a pitch above 20 degrees, rain washes most of it away. On flat roofs, under trees or with lots of birds, cleaning every one or two years pays off.

04

Salderen and later

What changes on 1 January 2027?

Then the salderen (net metering) scheme ends. You can no longer offset the power you feed back against the power you use. You get a feed-in payment, and that's lower than the electricity price.

Will I need a home battery then?

Not always. A battery mainly pays off with high evening use, with a heat pump or if you drive electric. We do the sums with your own usage.

Can I expand later?

Yes. With a hybrid inverter a battery can be added later, and often there's room for more panels if your usage goes up.

Unsure about your own roof?

Call or email Josefien, or save your question for the roof scan. It's free, and afterwards you decide.
