Krul & Kleur is a salon for colour and curls, for women and men. Balayage, highlights, a cut that suits your face and curls we cut one by one. Every colour journey starts with twenty minutes of free advice, by the window.
A word first
It starts at the window.
Everyone who comes to us for colour sits by the window first. The light there is honest. Your own colour at the root counts, as does what’s already in your lengths and how often you actually want to visit the salon. Only then do we get out the colour chart.
That conversation takes twenty minutes and costs nothing. Sometimes the answer is a balayage. Sometimes a toner is enough. And sometimes we advise against something, because your hair can’t take it or because you’d regret it in six weeks. Then we just tell you so.

We treat curls the same way. We cut them dry, in their own shape, and you watch in the mirror. No thinning scissors and no straighteners. At home you have a routine you can keep up yourself.
From our colour chart
Every colour has a code. The first number says how light, the numbers after the dot give the tone: .1 is ash, .3 gold, .4 copper. These are the colours we’re asked for most.
The real chart is by the window, with hair swatches you can hold against your own hair. A screenshot of a colour you like helps too.

How light can you go in one go?
Hairdressers measure hair in ten levels, from black to lightest blonde. Say your own colour is a 6. Then a 9 is doable in one appointment. We don’t go further.

Three levels per appointment
We don’t go more than three levels lighter in one go. Your hair gets dry and brittle. Want to go further? Then we book a second appointment six weeks later.
A toner finishes it off
After lightening there’s often yellow or orange in your hair. A toner removes it, or makes it warmer. It’s always included with a balayage.
An allergy test first
New to colour with us? Then we do a small test behind your ear 48 hours before. Five minutes, and it costs you nothing.
Curls
Curl by curl, and cut dry
Curls spring up when they’re dry. Cut them wet and you only find out at home how they fall.
That’s why we cut curls dry, in their own shape, one curl at a time. Priya specialises in this and cuts every curl type, from loose waves to afro hair. For men and children too.

On Thursday and Friday we’re open until 21:00. The last colour appointment starts at 18:00. You’ll find us at Voorbeeldstraat 1, with blue zone parking outside.
