From shed to workshop
Since 2015
Jacco was sixteen when he started as an apprentice at a carpentry firm in the town centre. For ten years he made window frames, stairs and dormers for someone else.
In 2015 he started on his own, with one van and a saw bench in the shed behind his house. Now we have our own workshop on Voorbeeldstraat. There we pre-build dormers, make stairs and cupboards to measure, and the timber dries before it goes into your home.
We don't need to grow. That way Jacco knows every job and every house we work on, and you know who'll be ringing the bell tomorrow.

Jacco Owner and carpenter
Measures up at your home himself and writes your quote. Spent ten years in the workshop of an old carpentry firm and started Houtvast in 2015.
Cees Carpenter
Specialist in stairs and floors. Chooses oak whenever he can and hates gaps.
Myrthe Planning and admin
Calls you back, schedules the job and makes sure the materials are on site on time.
Jip Apprentice carpenter
Is training part-time as a carpenter and works alongside Jacco and Cees three days a week.

- A deal is a dealIf we say we'll come on Tuesday at half past seven, we're there on Tuesday at half past seven.
- Working tidilyProtective fleece on the floor, a dust screen in front of the door and tidying up every day. You live there, after all.
- Timber that lastsWe work with FSC and PEFC timber and choose the species that lasts longest for each spot.
