Business transfer

Most people sell or buy a business once in their life. We work out what it is worth, get it ready for sale, look discreetly for the right buyer or successor and lead the negotiations. We coordinate everything with your notary and tax adviser, until the signature is on paper.

How it goes

9 to 12 months on average. After each step we discuss where things stand.

  1. Month 1Valuation

We work out what your business is worth, and what is left for you after tax.

  2. Months 2–3Getting ready for sale

We put your figures and contracts in order and write an anonymous sales profile.

  3. Months 3–6Meeting buyers

Interested parties sign a confidentiality agreement first. Only then do they hear your name.

  4. Months 6–9Intent and due diligence

A letter of intent with price and terms, then the buyer looks at the books.

  5. Months 9–12Signature

Purchase agreement, financing in place and the deed at the notary.

Questions about business transfer

Will my staff know about it?

Only when you say so. Buyers first sign a confidentiality agreement and only get your name after an initial selection.

When should I start preparing?

Ideally three to five years before you want to stop. You use those years to build up the value of your business.

All questions about costs and approach

How it turned out

From father to daughter, properly arranged for tax and with calm in the team.

The adviser

“In a family transfer you talk about money and about father and daughter. You have to take both seriously.”
