Chapter one

Book

Can I just walk in?

For breakfast, lunch and drinks, yes: find a table and sit down. If you want dinner, book ahead, especially at weekends.

How many people can I book for?

Online for up to eight people. More of you? Give us a call. From twenty guests it becomes the Waagzaal.

How long do you hold my table?

Fifteen minutes. Running late? One call and we'll wait longer.

Chapter two

Kitchen and bar

How late is the kitchen open?

The kitchen is open until 22:00. You can order bar snacks such as bitterballen and the Waagplank until 23:00.

Do you have vegetarian dishes?

Yes, at every time of day. The risotto, the goat's cheese salad and the soup are often vegetarian. Just ask.

Can the kitchen cater for an allergy?

Let the staff know. The kitchen knows every recipe down to the salt and adapts where it can.

Chapter three

Billiards and reading table

Does billiards cost anything?

No, the billiard table is free for guests. Ask for the cue and balls at the bar.

When is billiards night?

Every Thursday from 20:00. That's when the regulars play straight rail. Beginners are welcome to join in.

Which newspapers do you have?

Nine papers on the reading sticks: the national dailies, the Voorbeeldstad paper, an English and a French paper and a few weeklies.

Chapter four

The Waagzaal

How big is the Waagzaal?

Up to 120 guests standing, 80 at long tables and 64 at round tables.

Do I pay room hire?

Not if forty or more of you take a package. For a smaller party we charge €350 for the evening.

Can I get upstairs in a wheelchair?

Yes. A lift takes you up to the loft, and there's an accessible toilet both downstairs and upstairs.

Chapter five
