The shop

About us

A barbershop with three chairs on Voorbeeldstraat. Since 2011 the same door, the same chairs and by now a lot of regulars.

On Voorbeeldstraat since 2011

First one chair. Now three.

In 2011 Adriaan rented a chair in a men’s hairdresser that was about to close. A year later his name was on the window.

He kept the old leather chairs, had them reupholstered and hung a barber pole next to the door. Isa walked in for a haircut in 2018 and stayed. Gerda had run a men’s salon down the road for thirty years and joined when she closed it.

What stayed: nobody gets rushed here. Vinyl is playing, the coffee comes from roastery De Ketel and there’s beer in the fridge. You can walk in, sit for an hour and talk your week off your chest. Or just get your hair cut. Both are fine.

Owner · master barber

Adriaan

Adriaan started at sixteen sweeping floors in a barber’s on Voorbeeldstraat. In 2011 he got his own chair, a few years later the whole shop. He cuts calmly, checks the mirror a lot and talks as easily about football as about your crown.

Barber · fade specialist

Isa

Isa learned to fade at barber school and after that mainly by doing it a lot. He works with three pairs of clippers and a razor, and only stops when the transition is right up close too. On Saturdays his slots fill up first.

Barber · beards and kids

Gerda

Gerda was cutting men’s hair before barbershops existed: just at the men’s hairdresser. She’s calm itself. That’s why the youngest clients prefer her chair, and so do the men with the thickest beards.
