The brief

Voorbeeldstad-Centrum

The old closed staircase took a lot of light from the hallway. The residents wanted an open staircase to match their oak floor and the feel of a spacious entrance.

Our approach

5 working days

We measured the stairwell and hallway precisely and drew an open staircase with a quarter turn and a closed landing. In the workshop we made the stringers and treads from solid oak. The old staircase came out in a morning, the new one was in that same afternoon.

The result

Completed in 2026

The hallway is lighter and feels bigger. The treads are finished with hardwax oil in the same shade as the floor, and the staircase doesn't creak anywhere.
