The appointment

Does my GP have to refer me?

No. Podiatry is directly accessible. You call or book an appointment yourself. A referral is fine, for example if your GP has already examined something.

How long will I wait for an appointment?

A week at most, often less. On Thursday evenings there is a sports clinic until 20:00.

What should I bring to the assessment?

The shoes you wear most of the time, your sports shoes if you do sport, your current insoles if you wear them, and trousers you can roll up above the knee.

How long will my first visit take?

Allow forty-five minutes. You can follow the pressure measurement and the video live on the screen.

Your insoles

How long do insoles last?

Two or three years. Sports insoles and insoles in work shoes wear faster. A new top layer is often possible too.

Will the insoles fit all my shoes?

Almost always in shoes with a removable inner sole. For slim, smart shoes we make a thinner version. Bring your shoes; we will try it on the spot.

How long does it take to get used to them?

Usually two weeks. Start with an hour, then wear them an hour longer each day.

What if the insoles don’t feel right?

Then come in and we will adjust them. Up to three months after collection, that costs nothing.

Paying and getting it covered

Is podiatry covered by insurance?

Not by basic insurance, but by most supplementary policies. How much varies by policy. Exception: foot care with diabetes from care profile 2.

Do I have to make the claim myself?

No. We send the bill to your insurer. Whatever is not covered, you get as a bill at home.

What if I can’t come?

Cancelling up to a day in advance is free. Later costs €35.00, and no insurer covers that.

Diabetes

I have diabetes. What is covered?

Your GP or practice nurse sets your care profile. From care profile 2, basic insurance covers your foot care with us. The material for insoles is not included.

How often do I come for a check?

With care profile 1, once a year. With a higher profile more often, sometimes every quarter. We book your next check straight away.
